Bettina Schumann was born in 1982 and grew up in Berlin, a city far removed from the vineyards. She studied viticulture and oenology in Geisenheim and Udine, along with stays abroad in Italy, New Zealand and Austria. Since 2015, she has been working as a "flying winemaker" - as a consultant for wineries and large winegrowers' cooperatives throughout Germany and abroad, while at the same time fulfilling her dream of making her own wine with Weinhaus Bettina Schumann. She runs the wine house in Königsschaffhausen together with Melanie Panitzke.

The company's wines are categorised into the Rotschuh line, the Goldenschuh line and the Schumann line. While the Rotschuh line forms the basis of the wine collection of the Weinhaus am Kaiserstuhl, the wines of the Goldschuh line are the treasures of the wine house. Long yeast storage, mash fermentation and 100% use of wood characterise the wines in this line. The Schumann group from this range includes two special wines that do not fit in with the rest of the wines.
