A Conversation with Ellen Klinger, Assistant Front Office Manager at Hotel Adler Asperg

A Conversation with Ellen Klinger, Assistant Front Office Manager at Hotel Adler Asperg

Ellen Klinger took the path to the hotel industry in 2010 when she finished her A-levels and flew to Australia for a year. There, she worked in a hotel and was able to get to know all areas of the business. After doing her apprenticeship as a hotel manageress at the Mercure Hotel Gerlingen, she started at the Hotel Adler Asperg as a receptionist in 2014. She has been Assistant Front Office Manager since 2021. She likes cycling and has recently discovered stand-up paddling on the river Enz.

What tasks do you perform as Assistant Front Office Manager?

First and foremost, all the tasks and duties of a receptionist are part of my job in order to ensure the smooth running of the reception and the best possible service for our guests. As an Assistant Front Office Manager, I support the reception management with various additional tasks, such as: group reservation requests, the weekly reservation control and the related room allocation, maintenance of the blocking data of the arrangements, evaluation of monthly statistics, etc...Due to my long professional experience at Adler, I also take over the accounting and the events office tasks, while my colleagues there are on holidays.

Have the guests' demands changed recently?

Yes, they have. Business travellers tend to book spontaneously - sometimes even on the same day. Guests travelling privately tend to travel with their entire extended family, including grandparents, aunts and uncles.

What do you like most about your job?

The variety - no two days are the same.

What makes the Hotel Adler Asperg special?

Since I grew up in Asperg, I've known the Adler since I was little - my parents celebrated all the major family events here. As an employee, I very much appreciate the family environment and the trust that the Ottenbacher family as well as Mr. Heller, our hotel director, place in me every day - I am happy and proud to be a part of the Adler family.
