Josephine Baker suddenly appeared late in the evening.

For 125 years the Ottenbacher family has been part of history and witness to events in and around Asperg. In this context, we would like to recall important and remarkable events. We would like to highlight the visit of the French-American artist Josephine Baker, who visited Baden-Württemberg in September 1967.

During her three-day stay, she appeared on Südwestfunk television in Stuttgart and Karlsruhe. On September 23, she participated in a major event of the Bietigheim City Orchestra for the benefit of "Aktion Sorgenkind".

She thrilled the audience still on stage while the then Adler hostess Marta Ottenbacher went to bed. Suddenly she was called when Mrs. Späth, the wife of the former Prime Minister Lother Späth, arrived at the hotel with Josephine Baker. The artist was given the most beautiful hotel room. As a proof of her visit, her autograph still hangs on one of the walls of the Eagle.
