Wine tasting with Anette Closheim

Since 2008, Anette Closheim has been managing her family's winery in Langenlonsheim (Rhineland-Palatinate), which was founded 150 years ago. A graduate in wine business administration, she has created her own premium wine line based on diverse and international experience. On the evening of May 24th, she will present "an exciting cross-section of white wines", along with reds and rosés from the Nahe wine region at Tapas Bar Aguila. In this interview, Ms Closheim gives an overview of the wine tasting.

Ms. Closheim, you are running your winery in the fourth generation. How do you manage a traditional winery? What have you changed since you started managing it?
It is a wonderful, but also a respectful task to carry on what the older generation has created and to adapt it to the new demands of the times! Among other things, we have changed the distribution channels.  In addition to direct marketing, we have greatly expanded our cooperation with the gastronomy sector. There have been further changes in the grape variety mirror. About 10 years ago, we introduced Sauvignon Blanc, but also red grape varieties like Merlot and Cabernet Franc.

What is the reputation of wines from the Nahe and from Germany in other countries?
The reputation of German wines, especially white wines, is excellent. They get wonderful qualities all over the country. But Germany doesn't have to hide when it comes to red wine either. Especially in terms of price-performance ratio, there are real gems.

Which wines will you present during the wine evening at Adler Asperg?

I will show an exciting cross-section of white wines such as Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc. The Nahe wine region also has a lot to offer in terms of red wine. I am also taking rosé, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Franc with me.

What would you like to convey to the participants of the wine tasting at Adler Asperg?

I would like to show the participants the result of my work and give them deeper insights into the wines, the Closheim winery and my home, the Nahe wine-growing region.
